Revelacio, a new on-board mediation system
Discover Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey in a whole new way, thanks to a digital tablet with alternate reality !
10 February 2024
From mid-February 2024, the Centre des monuments nationaux will be offering a new on-board visual and audio mediation system : Revelacio, a tablet accompanied by headphones to give visitors a more immersive experience.
3 pathways to suit everyone
Revelacio is a new mobility scheme aimed at a wide range of French and foreign visitors, with 3 different routes:
- The 45-minute Discovery Tour, for visitors in a hurry who want to discover the abbey's must-sees,
- The Exploration tour, lasting 1 hour 30, for the more inquisitive,
- The Children's Route, from 45 minutes to 1 hour 30, for young visitors who want to discover the monument while having fun. Accompanied along the way by three characters, they will have a quest to complete to discover the contents of a mysterious chest.
Substituted reality
Thanks to extensive research, a number of never-before-seen 3D reconstructions will enable visitors to step back in time and discover areas of the monument as they were in the Middle Ages and the 19th century :
- The Romanesque abbey church in the 11th century, with the guests who brought the place to life
- A meal for the monastic community in the Refectory
- A scene of copying and reading in the Scriptorium
- The preparation of a body in the mortuary chapel
- The banquet of Louis IX, the future Saint Louis, in 1256, in the Salle des Hôtes
- Several areas of the abbey in the 19th century, when it was transformed into a sinister prison.
