To mark the start of spring and the 15th anniversary of the twinning between Mont-Saint-Michel and Miyajima in Japan, Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey is hosting an origami cherry blossom workshop on Wednesday 24 April 2024. The whole family can spend some time together discovering the symbolism of the cherry blossom festival and creating a floral origami!
Cherry blossom has been a special time in Japan for centuries. This introductory day to origami, the Japanese art of folding, will be an opportunity to combine the delicacy of this evanescent spring moment with the refinement of this ancestral practice.
Hosted by David BENOÎT, a fervent promoter of Japanese culture for nearly 30 years, each session will enable participants to learn how to make a "sakura", the Japanese word for "cherry blossom", helping to welcome spring by hanging it on one of the branches of a tree.
