Presentation
Program
Discover calligraphy, a popular art form in Japan.
As esteemed as painting, it has a philosophical meaning. It's not just the aesthetic pursuit of beautiful writing; every gesture, every stroke is important. It is the art of simple gesture, a moment of calm and relaxation.
TCHIE SATO, a Japanese calligraphy teacher, was born in Japan. She will be guiding visitors as a family as they try their hand at representing ideograms with a brush, making kana, and Japanese cursive writing.
