Presentation

Come and discover the incredible story of Mamadou Aïdara aka “Junior”!

A street child and handicapped since the age of 3, he overcame his precarious situation through stubbornness and courage. It was on the streets that he discovered break dancing and began training to become a professional dancer with various companies. At the same time, Junior developed his balancing skills and became one of Senegal's leading artists!

The show tells the story of Junior's life, how he escaped his difficult condition and the harsh daily life of a street vendor in Dakar: “Café Touba, Café Touba!...”
“Yakaar” is a hymn to life, showing that any dream can come true, if only you have the strength to believe in it...

The Company

The Company "Les Mélangeurs", founded in 1999 by Jérôme Cury in the Hauts-de-France region of France, “mixes” the arts to create shows where each artistic sensibility brings its own strength and specificity. Choreographic, musical, tribal and contemporary creations give rise to powerful visual and sonic performances.

The company's aim is to make art accessible to as many people as possible, especially those who are far removed from cultural offerings. The company operates in both rural and urban areas. It fights against all forms of compartmentalization, whether social, artistic or geographical.

A few words about Jérôme Curry:
Founder of the Compagnie, Jérôme Curry spent 15 years at the conservatory before becoming a professional musician. Artistic director and composer, he directs the creations in his own image. This was the beginning of his attraction to shows that blend artistic disciplines. As a citizen of the world, Jérôme Cury travels to different countries and is nourished by other musical horizons. He plays with musicians from Indonesia, Morocco and Madagascar. He has a deep personal and professional bond with Senegal, where he has been a regular visitor for over thirty years.
