On the programme

As part of the 22nd Rendez-vous aux jardins, on the theme "Gardens of stones, stones of gardens", Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey, managed by the Centre des monuments nationaux, is pleased to offer a family activity based on stone-cutting, organised by the Pierre & Masse association. You can reproduce the skills of medieval stonemasons and take your creations home with you!

Young and old alike will be able to discover the materials used in stonemasonry, and observe and learn about this skill by taking inspiration from the plant motifs in the abbey cloister.

The Pierre & Masse association

The Pierre & Masse association is a non-profit-making organisation created in October 2002. Its aim is to promote old and new built heritage in the Cotentin bocage and to raise awareness of ecological renovation. Pierre & Masse relies on methods such as sharing and passing on rural know-how and techniques that make the most of local natural resources. Its organisers are all involved in conserving heritage, whether monumental or rural: stone-cutting, earthen constructions, masonry, etc.
